The Bible says there was a tribe among the Jewish people, the children of Issachar, which were men that “…had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do…” (1 Chronicles 12:32).

The month of Elul is known as the time when “the King is in the field.” The Israelites taught that during this season, the King would leave his palace and set up camp in the field where everyone was welcome to approach Him and meet Him! This means instead of visiting the King at His throne and going through royal protocol, He would come down humbly to meet with His people and to inspect the Harvest!
