DAY 34:

“In Order to Serve God – We Must be Where He Is!

God said this about David, “I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,” (Psalm 89:3).

David served God’s heart.. He was after the heart of God. You can’t serve God with mixed motives. You must die to your desires in order to serve God’s with excellence.

If your schedule and way of doing things is the measure at which you serve God, you will miss what serving Him really is in many moments. Six days before the Passover, Jesus went to Bethany, where a meal was prepared for Him. Martha served Him with natural food, but Mary served and ministered adoration to Jesus’ heart.

“Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment,” (John 12:3).

Judas was upset by Mary’s demonstration of worship and adoration, because he wanted the money for the “value” of the perfume that she anointed Jesus with.. but he could not see the value of the purpose and why she did what she did!!

“Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this,” (John 12:7).

You see, when you operate from your own agenda and desires, you will miss the deeper meaning and greater purpose of how you serve. Servanthood is not just outwardly works of service. You have a choice as to what kind of servant you want to be.. you can be excellent or sloppy, it depends on what is in your heart!
